Champion Line Fell Ponies

Native Ponies are our family’s passion and we’ve kept, bred and shown eye-catching, show quality Mountain and Moorland ponies for over three decades.

A quintessential British breed – Fell ponies are about as British as a good cup of tea – they are also increasingly rare and currently registered as ‘At Risk’ on the 2024/25 Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) watchlist. As such, we’re committed to keeping these native beauties a feature of the countryside through our selected breeding and selling programme. We are proud members of the Fell Pony Society, aiming to foster and keep pure the old breed of pony which has roamed the northern fells for years.

Our native Fell ponies have achieved many wins at county and national level. As well as show champions, they are family ponies, being strong and agile, making them the perfect pony for riding, trekking, and driving. They are also adept climbers used to traversing up and down the Chiltern Hills.

We occasionally have Fell ponies, youngstock and riding ponies for sale.

Here’s a little more about our prize-winning Fells:

• Knockamille Jasmine (S: Guards Jester, D: Gathurst Amy) Fell pony mare bred in Scotland. In her first season in England 2019, Knockamille Jasmine won Champion Rare Breed Fell Pony of the Year, and was Reserve Ridden Champion at Fell Southern Show.  2021 Reserve Supreme Champion at the Southern Fell Show.  Jasmine has produced two foals in Scotland, both now successfully following their mother’s hoofprints in the show ring, her son Laventura From The Ashes, an FIS clear stallion is now available for A.I. 2024 Fell Pony Society Southern Breed Show – Jasmine’s first outing in 2024 is a winning one with a win in the mares 9+ years class, she then wins the veteran class and is crowned Mare Champion!  She then stands Reserve In Hand Champion to Bracklinn Myrtle.
• Murthwaite Sarah (S: Linnel Reynard, D: Murthwaite Magic Moment) A truly outstanding, kind and athletic mare who loves her jumping, competeing in WHP, 2021 Winner of Novice WHP at The Southern Fell Show. Hertfordshire County Show 2023 Supreme Champion In Hand M+M.  Bucks County Show 2023  Sarah was 2nd and Reserve Champion Non-Welsh Large Breeds In Hand. The Chilterns” 2024 Fell Pony Society Southern Breed Show, Sarah’s only outing this year sees her win her Broodmare class (she’s in foal to Bracklinn Dynamite for 2025!) 2025 After foaling her second foal, another beautiful filly ‘Jelly’, Sarah has enjoyed a quiet spring and summer, although she has had two outings, one to the Bucks County Spectacular Show and another to the Chiltern Welsh Pony and Cob Show. Both outings resulting in her winning her class and taking the ring championship! Her filly foal ‘Jelly’ gained ring experience and behaved impeciably.
• 2021 – Hemleyhill Gold Top (S: SD The Milkman, D: SD Trixie) A beautuful coloured traditional filly born at Hemley Hill. ‘Goldie’ is beginning her ride and drive career in beautiful Sandringham, we wish her owners all the best with this fabulous filly.
• 2022 – Bracklinn Myrtle (S:Bracklin Jackpot, D:Bracklin Marcie) 2022 Fell pony filly. We’re very excited to welcome Myrtle to Hemley Hill Farm, our first grey Fell Pony. Fell Pony Society Southern Breed Show 2023 – 1st place yearlings, Champion Youngstock and Reserve Overall In Hand Champion!  Bucks County Show 2023 2nd Non-Welsh Large Breeds Youngstock.  NPS Spring Festival 2024 Bracklinn Myrtle – 1st Home Produced In Hand and Home Produced In Hand Champion, a good start to her 2024 show season. Kent County Show 2024 – 1st Fell Pony and Supreme Champion Mountain and Moorland Pony! New Forest and Hampshire Show 2024 – 1st FDH Youngstock and Reserve Champion FDH. NPS Great British In Hand show 2024- Myrtle wins her Champions Prelim Round class, she wins the Fell 2/3 year old class and stands Fell Breed Champion. The Evening Gala performance sees Myrtle crowned Reserve Supreme Fell Pony Champion. 2024 Fell Pony Society Southern Breed Show – Myrtle wins her 2 year old class and is youngstock champion. She is also awarded In Hand Champion and finally Reserve Supreme Champion of the show – not at all bad for a 2 year old! 2025 starts well for Myrtle. A 1st at NPS Spring Festival; 1st, Champion and Silver Medal at Herts County Show; 1st, Champion and Silver Medal at South of England; 1st Royal Three Counties; 1st Kent County; 2 x 1sts, a Champion and reserve Championship at NPS Area 7 Summer Show; 1st New Forest and Hampshire County; NPS Summer Champs- 1st Gold Medal Final, 1st and Reserve Champion Fell Pony.
• Murthwaite Princess (S: Castle Hill Prince II, D: Heltondale Lucy X) 2003 Fell Pony mare. Princess joins us in 2023. She has bred 8 foals for Her Majesty The Late Queen Elizabeth II at the Balmoral Stud in her broodmare career and now joins us at Hemley Hill for her retirement.
• 2022 Royal Windsor. The Platinum Jubilee – We were honoured to be invited to parade Guards Jester, Knockamille Jasmine and Murthwaite Sarah before Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
• 2023 – Hemleyhill Elizabeth.  Murthwaite Sarah has foaled a super filly to Supreme Champion Stallion Boutime Wooster! We’re delighted to welcome ‘Betty’ into our pony family.  NPS Summer Championship Show 2023 – Hemleyhill Elizabeth Best Fell Pony Foal. Fell Pony Society Southern Breed Show 2023, Betty is awarded 2nd place in the foal class, being narrowly beaten by her half sibling Hemleyhill Juniper! Bucks County Show 2024 – Now a yearling, Betty takes 2nd in a strong mixed M&M large breeds youngstock class, and then goes on to take a reserve championship in another hotly contested series M&M Lge breeds mixed ages Home Produced, qualifying her for two finals at the NPS Summer Championship Show 2025, go Betty! NPS Great British In Hand show 2024- Betty wins her Fell yearling class and stands Fell Breed Reserve Champion. The Evening Gala performance sees Betty show a maturity beyond her years to give a performance to be crowned  Supreme Fell Pony Champion!  2024 Fell Pony Society Southern Breed Show – Betty wins her yearling class and is youngstock reserve champion. Winter Woolies Registered Native Pony Show 03.11.24 – Betty wins a strongly contested Large Breeds Yearling Class and goes on to take the Large Breeds Championship which puts her forward to the Supreme Championship at the end of the day – and it’s another win with Betty being crowned Supreme of Show! 2025 Betty is now a two year old and start the year with a win and a reserve championship at Winter Woolies Registered Native Pony Show February 2025.
• 2023 – Hemleyhill Juniper.  Knockamille Jasmine and Supreme Champion Stallion Boutime Wooster have produced another outstanding filly foal! We’re delighted to welcome ‘June’ into our pony family.  Fell Pony Society Southern Breed Show 2023, at just 3 months old June made her show ring debut a winning one gaining Ist place in the Foal class. She’s one to watch for the future for sure! We wish June’s new owner all the best and look forward to following their journey! 03.11.24 June wins her first NPS Silver Medal Award for her owners.
• 2025 – Hemleyhill Gelignite. We’re delighted to welcome another filly at Hemley Hill – born 01/04/25 to Murthwaite Sarah and Supreme Champion Bracklinn Dynamite. This gorgeous all black filly will be one to watch for sure.

• Ponies Remembered – Wolds Storm Petrel (S: Murthwaite Ben, D: Wolds Oriole) 1997 – 2018. Our dearest ‘Bonnie’. The kindest mare. Loved and remembered always.  Hemleyhill Genesis (S: Murthwaite Gurkha, D: Wolds Storm Petrel) 2010 – 2019. Our special boy ‘Tommy’. Winning foal, champion youngstock, so much fun and missed so much, always in our thoughts. Shirdleyhill Tara (S: Townend Jonty, D: Hiljon Black Magic) 1997 – 2023 Multi-award-winning Supreme Champion Shirdleyhill Tara won many top titles including Bucks County, Herts County, Royal Cornwall, The Royal Show, EANPS, Fell Pony Society Southern Show, plus many, many more – she was absolute champion, a one off and matriarch of the herd. She will be so sadly missed. Guards Jester (S: Heltondale Bellman V, D: Guards Joanne) 1999 – 2025  Fell stallion and multi award-winning Supreme Champion. Affectionately known as ‘Pookie’ at home, he was the winner and supreme champion of numerous shows including Olympia SSADL Champion 2015. This has been the hardest thing the write – we have lost our dear, beloved ‘Pookie’  Although nothing can ever replace him, we take comfort in the knowledge that his daughter (Knockamille Jasmine) and grandaughter (Hemleyhill Juniper) alongside all his extensive progeny will carry on his bloodline for generations to come.
